Forensic Y-STR Training Receive FREE Y-STR training at the Marshall University Forensic Science Center in Huntington, WV. Laboratory analysts interested in implementing Y-STR technology into their current workflow will benefit from the training modules provided. Individuals should have a basic knowledge of forensic DNA applications. Prior participation in the Advanced DNA Technologies Training or a familiarity with Real-Time PCR, Capillary Electrophoresis, and GeneMapper® ID software is also recommended. The training agenda will include both preliminary Y-STR presentations as well as hands-on, Y-STR specific, laboratory exercises and data analysis using state-of-the-art analytical kits, instrumentation and software.

Applicant Requirements
All reasonable travel expenses will be paid to participants under support of a cooperative agreement with the NIJ. Airfare and hotel arrangements will be prepared by and billed to the Marshall University Forensic Science Center (MUFSC). A rental car for each agency will be reserved for participants coming into the Some travel fees must be paid by the participant or the agency at the time of travel and will be reimbursed. Meals are paid at the standard state government per diem rate of 35 dollars a day and do not require receipts. Rental car, gasoline, airport parking and any other reasonable cost must have original itemized receipts to be considered for reimbursement on the travel settlement. You will be contacted by the training coordinator with the details of your travel arrangements after you have been accepted into training session.
