Forensic Relationship Training: Session 1 - General Relationships
Marshall University Forensic Science Center offers Forensic Relationship Training, as part of our Forensic DNA Training Program. Laboratory analysts interested in implementing cases related to relationships (paternity/maternity, body identification, reconstructions, etc.) into their current workflow will benefit from the training sessions we provide.
Our goal is to provide agencies the requisite knowledge and training to perform relationship comparison cases instead of out-sourcing these case types.
Previous experience in relationship comparisons is not required for Session 1 - General Relationships, though individuals should have a basic knowledge of forensic DNA applications.

All attendees will receive a Certificate of Attendance. Attendees can voluntarily participate in a post-training test. Any attendees scoring 80% or higher on the test will also receive a Certificate of Successful Completion.
Attendees are responsible for procuring travel arrangements, lodging, and meals for their training sessions at the Marshall University Forensic Science Center.

About the Instructor
Kelly Beatty has been a professional in the field of forensic DNA analysis for more than ten years. She graduated from West Liberty State College with a B.S. in Biology in 1998 and from Marshall University with a M.S. in Forensic Science in 2000. As a working scientist, Kelly has performed DNA testing and interpretation on over 400 cases and reviewed testing and interpretation in more than 200 cases. Kelly has trained more than 300 forensic analysts to statistically assess biological relationships. She is currently a Forensic DNA Analyst and the Parentage Laboratory Supervisor at the Marshall University Forensic Science Center in Huntington, WV; where she also has the honor of instructing her alma mater in Forensic Statistics and Human Genetics graduate courses.
