The Marshall University Forensic Science Center is an accredited laboratory by the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) specifically for relationship testing by DNA analysis. The AABB is the premiere accrediting body for relationship testing.

MUFSC is accredited by Forensic Quality Services - International (FSQ-I), which is the longest established provider of ISO accreditation to forensic science testing laboratories in the United States. Our laboratory is an ISO/IEC 17025 compliant testing laboratory.

In addition, our DNA laboratory provides databasing services to the forensic science community. Our laboratory is accredited by Forensic Quality Services (FQS), which recognizes our compliance with federally mandated Quality Assurance Standards for the analysis of DNA-STR by capillary electrophoresis for database samples.

In February of 2005 the Master of Science degree program was awarded full Forensic Science Education Program Accreditation Commission (FEPAC) accreditation, through the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS). This accreditation is for a length of five years, making the MUFSC Master of Science degree program one of few in the country to be FEPAC accredited.
