Students interested in working in Forensic DNA Laboratories should be aware of specific personnel requirements listed in the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation Quality Assurance Standards for Convicted Offender DNA Databasing Laboratories and the Quality Assurance Standards for Forensic DNA Testing Laboratories. Marshall University ’s Forensic Science Master of Science Emphasis in DNA Analysis meets the degree requirement and exceeds the course requirements set forth by the DNA Advisory Board (DAB) for individuals aspiring to positions of Technical Leader/Manager in Forensic DNA Laboratories.

The Emphasis in DNA Analysis exceeds DAB standards by requiring a total of 13 graduate level credit hours addressing the DNA guidelines. Please note, this course work spans both the program’s Core and DNA Analysis Emphasis curriculum. Students following this track benefit from laboratory training in modern, state-of-the-art DNA laboratories, including an in-house CODIS, evidence, and parentage testing facility.
