| Applying Entrance into the Forensic Science Program is restricted to the fall semester only. Pre-admission faculty advising is available by completing the Request for Pre-Admission Advising Form. Admission Requirements Minimum requirements for admission to the program include: a bachelor’s degree in a natural science or forensic science (or its equivalent coursework in a relevant field) from an accredited institution of higher education; a 3.0 overall grade point average, and one year of general biology, general physics, general chemistry, and organic chemistry, all with their associated laboratories. Graduate Record Examination (GRE) results and official transcripts must be received by the application deadline, along with a personal letter from the applicant and letters of reference. A GRE score of 1,000 or better is recommended. Application Deadline All application materials must be submitted by March 1 to be considered for Fall enrollment. The program observes a rolling admissions policy so that individuals may apply at any time although the deadline for fall admissions is March1. Students are accepted on their academic merit, GRE scores, and letters of reference attesting to their academic potential, motivation in pursuing a career in forensic science, along with their ethical character. Academic Common Market Procedures The Academic Common Market Program provides students, who are residents of states that do not offer a graduate-level forensic science degree, an opportunity to attend Marshall University at the in-state tuition and fee rate. Students who wish to obtain Academic Common Market benefits at Marshall University must follow these steps: 1. Provide to the Office of Academic Affairs, 110 Old Main, an original certification from the student’s residency state agency approving Academic Common Market to a specific program at Marshall University. 2. Provide proof of admission to Marshall University and to the specified program. This should be delivered to the Office of Academic Affairs. 3. Provide proof of satisfactory progress within the specified program each semester. This can be done by completing the Academic Common Market Satisfactory Progress Report, available in the Registrar’s Office, 106 Old Main, online at www.marshall.edu/academic-affairs prior to the due date for fee payments for any term of enrollment. The deadline for submission of all materials is the last day of late registration for the semester for each term of enrollment. Six Common Market States (as of 7/10/08 )
