The emphasis in Forensic Chemistry provides students interested in careers in forensic drug analysis, toxicology and trace evidence analysis, with additional course work needed for these forensic disciplines. Some state and federal agencies require 30 or more hours of chemistry related coursework for these disciplines.
Including a Chemistry related elective, this emphasis provides a total of 16 credit hours of graduate level chemistry-related credits while the student is enrolled in the Forensic Science Program. Considering the average student has 12 credit hours or more of undergraduate chemistry credits prior to entering the Forensic Science Program, each student completing the emphasis in Forensic Chemistry will meet the educational requirements for most state and federal agencies.
