Poster Contest
There will be judging of the best undergraduate and best graduate forensic science research poster at the 2008 MAAFS annual meeting in Huntington, WV April 28-May 2, 2008. Judging will be by a panel of forensic scientists based on applicability to the field of forensic science, quality of presentation and knowledge of the student presenter relative to his/her research. A cash prize will be awarded the top presenter in each category. The student must be the presenter at the meeting although others may be co-authors. Abstracts must be submitted via the MAAFS website and conform to the guidelines posted there. The poster session is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, May 1, 2008. Abstracts submitted before the early registration deadline, if accepted, will entitle the presenter to free registration at the meeting. Logo Contest We invite any forensic science student in the MAAFS region (VA, MD, DC, DE, PA, NJ and WV) along with Ohio and Kentucky colleges and university to submit a logo for our 2008 annual meeting which will be held in Huntington, WV on April 28-May 2, 2008 hosted by the Marshall University Forensic Science Program. This logo will be used on meeting materials, advertising and the MAAFS website. Because the logo will be used on a variety of objects and publications of different sizes, a clear simple design is best. Color may be used, but we recommend only a few bright colors with white and black. The logo should include the new MAAFS logo along with “MAAFS 2008” and something that denotes the location of the meeting, either the state (WV) or host (Marshall University). The theme of the conference is “We are Forensic Science.” See examples from past conferences There is $50 cash prize for the winning entry. To submit an entry, send an electronic copy of your drawing in JPG format as an attachment to an email with your name, address, college or university, major and expected graduation date to rankinj@marshall.edu. All entries will be judged by the local host committee which will select finalists. The Executive Board of MAAFS will pick the winning entry from the finalists. The decision of the judges will be final. More than one entry per student may be submitted. Deadline for submissions is December 15, 2007. The winner will be notified early in 2008.
