Position: Special Projects Manager, Forensic Science
Location: Forensic Science Center
Position Type:  part-time, exempt position
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Qualifications: Master's degree in forensic science is required with a specialization in DNA technologies used for human identification plus minimum of five years experience in complex DNA analysis; extensive background in multiple areas in forensic science and having demonstrated organizational and leadership skills; must be able to pass background check and polygraph conducted by WV State Police. Ability to identify grant opportunities and having a background to write proposals to secure federal grant funding; ability to statistically assess the results obtained from laboratory projects.

Duties: Evaluate testing procedures and interpretation of lab results for interpretation biases (cognitive bias); work with the Technical Leader and staff of the DNA laboratory to promote process improvement; serve as a trainer of forensic professionals who attend week long, grant funded training at MUFSC. Consult with state/federal agencies and the community at large; provide supervision to staff conducting research and methods development on new forensic NDA technologies; responsible for all other duties and activities as required and assigned by the Director or his/her designee.
