Position: Special Projects Business Developer
Location: Forensic Science Center
Position Type: Full-time position
Salary: $28,000-$30,000/annually

Qualifications: BBA with an emphasis in Management, Accounting, or Finance; experience working in forensic science or other biotechnology industry; experience in applying business principles to a nonprofit or for profit environment; business-related experience in laboratory operations and accreditation requirements; understanding of issues surrounding non-profit/for profit business operations, including but not limited to tax law and government regulations; strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Word, Publisher, Power Point, and Excel; basic proficiency with a graphics software package (ex. Adobe Creative Suite 2); ability to apply new technology to business opportunities as needed; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; strong comprehension of business in areas including but not limited to marketing, management, and corporate finance; understanding of the principles and applications of forensic science; ability and motivation to learn new skills (within a reasonable time frame) as required.

Duties: Develop cost-benefit analyses for MUFSC's current and future business ventures; asses the viability of MUFSC's operations as a 501(c)3 tax-exempt corporation; assist in the strategic management of MUFSC to include the identification of a vision, preparation of objectives, and execution of strategies; undertake necessary steps to ensure compliance of business activities to state and federal regulations; participate in the generation of web and print-based marketing materials, with duties including but not limited to copy-writing, proofreading, and editing; participate in economic development brainstorming sessions and the development of new applications for forensic science technologies; work with attorneys and other legal personnel representing MUFSC and other parties to ensure organizational compliance with state and federal law; meet with university and business leaders to discuss MUFSC's biotechnology-based business opportunities; serve on or chair committees to evaluate and address issues surrounding the development of MUFSC; provide graduate program with business-related input and assist in evaluating the potential for cross-discipline forensic science-based academic offerings; ability to work independently or with limited supervision, while exercising good judgment; prepare letters, reports, proposals, charts and memorandum from rough draft to final form as required;; ability to work within a diverse team environment; other duties as required..
