Position: Laboratory Administrative Assistant
Location: Forensic Science Center
Position Type: Full-time position
Salary: $24,000/annually

Qualifications: Associate's degree in office administration, business administration, or related field; one to three years related experience in program development; experience in grant development; experience in monitoring grant activities. Excellent oral and written communication skills requiring tact and diplomacy; ability to rapidly learn and apply institution/federal/state statutes and regulations impacting the mission/goals of the MUFSC Center; ability to work independently, exercising good judgment; ability to plan, organize, set priorities and provide assistance for multiple projects; ability to operate office equipment including utilization of a computer and various software packages; ability to perform financial calculations and prepare financial reports.

Duties: Coordinate travel arrangements, which includes dates, times, destinations, and mode of transportation, assists in preparation of travel requests/settlement forms for all laboratory staff; collect inventory and order requests from laboratory staff & generate purchase orders in Quick Books after receiving required approval from Laboratory Manager; receive orders with assistance of Graduate Assistants; prepare manual revisions, quarterly grant reports, meeting agendas and worksheets for analysts and prepare confidential correspondence requiring knowledge of financial procedures and practices; prepare letters, reports, proposals, charts and memorandum from rough draft to final form; proof read documents at request of laboratory staff/manager; maintain Continuing Education charts for laboratory/staff/manager; provide clerical assistance to search committees; attend laboratory meetings and record and distribute minutes; maintain outlook calendar; internet research as required; assist with financial reporting under the direction of the LIMS Specialist; assist with training agendas by assisting with the coordination of travel arrangements, preparation in required forms, hosting activities, etc. as directed by the Training Coordinator; other duties and activities as required and assigned by the Laboratory Manager, LIMS Specialist, Training Coordinator, or his/her designee.
