Qualifications: A strong understanding of Computer Science or 3 years experience in a related field. The ideal candidate has 3 years of experience providing computer forensic and other IT security related services. Computer Forensics certifications such as A+, CFCE, GIAC, or a forensics related degree are desirable. Knowledge of computer network exploitation methodology and techniques is a plus. Candidates should have an understanding of Law enforcement or investigative procedures with experience in cyber crime investigations, electronic evidence handling and storage procedures, electronic discovery procedures, and interviewing techniques. Candidates should be knowledgeable in the use of current computer forensic software and equipment such as: Encase, Safeback, NTI tool suite, Maresware, Norton Utilities, and the Access Data Forensics Toolkit. Additionally, the candidate should have a strong technical background with experience in MS Windows (95, 98, NT and 2000), Unix/Linux, Apple and other operating systems. Additional technical skills should include network protocols, network servers (e-mail, web and database), log file analysis, telecommunication applications and an understanding of IT security architectures and applications including firewalls, VPNs and intrusion detection systems. Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

 

Duties: Major job duties include evidence seizure, computer forensic analysis and data recovery, and research to maintain proficiency in open and closed source information security tools, techniques, procedures and trends. Applicant must convey technical information effectively and concisely to a wide range of audiences. Primary focus will be conducting computer based forensic analysis on DOS, Windows, Unix/Linux, Macintosh, and PDA OSs, etc. Responsible for providing written and oral reports.
