Position: DNA Analyst, 3 positions available

Position Type: Full-time Salary: $32,000-34,000/annually
Qualifications: Master's degree in Forensic Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a Forensic-related science, including course work in area of genetics, biochemistry, molecular biology, legal issues, and statistics; experience in use of basic laboratory instrumentation and laboratory methods; knowledge of DNA analysis including isolation, identification and genetic characterization of body builds; basic knowledge of laboratory operations including evidence collection/handling, chain of custody requirements, documentation procedures and quality assurance issues; ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations; ability to maintain detailed, accurate records and communicate effectively in writing; ability to effectively present information and respond to basic questions from groups of students, customers, and the general public; ability to establish rapport and communicate effectively with law enforcement agencies, faculty, staff and service personnel; basic knowledge of computer software applications; ability to define basic problems, college data, and establish facts.
Duties: Conduct analysis on samples submitted for DNA identification at an entry level according to established protocol. Produce detailed accurate reports of results and conclusions. Organize and maintain detailed records relating to all aspects of laboratory operations; participate in validation of new laboratory procedures and equipment, perform general laboratory maintenance and calibration of equipment. Assist in maintenance of laboratory inventory and purchase order records. Follow laboratory policies and practices as mandated by federal standards.
