The Center was officially established in 1999 to facilitate the university’s CODIS testing obligations. The testing laboratory achieved ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation in 2003 and was officially designated a criminal justice agency by the State of West Virginia in 2016.
The Marshall University Forensic Science Center is a nationally recognized leader in forensic science graduate education; dedicated to providing the highest quality forensic analysis services and training for the promotion of truth and justice.
We have a unique relationship with the West Virginia State Police as the first university to partner with a state crime laboratory on developing and maintaining a CODIS database. Our ANAB accredited DNA laboratory employs a team of experienced, proficiency-tested, MS educated scientists.
